04 gmc yukon door locks with alarm

well today i installed an audiovox prestige aps 786t in my o4 yukon. i bought a dei 555l-w and a dei 456g-w at a local shop. the 555 works great with the passlock(the one i thought i would have a problem with) but the 456 module doesn't really work. this is the module that interfaces to the data bus. when i try to lock or unlock the doors with the audiovox remote nothing happens. i tried to "program" the 456 for keyless entry like the instuctions say. it worked for a few times, but now i can't get it to work. i checked the starter/alarm and it is supplying the proper triggers to the input of the 456, but it doesn't want to lock/unlock the doors.

in the instruction for the 456, it tells you to tie onto the purple wire from the odb conn under the dash, then it says to do it at least 6 inches from the odb connector. why is this 6 inches so important, i'm not sure if i have it 6 inches away, is that my problem.

or i'm thinking that maybe something happened to the 456 module, but there is no way of testing it's output to the data bus.

Lee, have you soldered your connections to the module ? It's important that you have a solid connection to the wires and the use of solder and tape in this application is vital. Poor connections can result in problems that your having. If you did solder, then I would start looking at re-programming the module.
