Hi,

I'm going to be working on a friend's 2005 dodge dakota pick up--for a remote start. How do i tell if the truck has a pats device onboard? This is a pretty basic dakota, no frills except for automatic trans..3.7l v6 4x4. I don't see any indication (i know fords have the 'theft' light. but nothing indicates that is has pats. Thanks in advance. paul

It really hasn't. Bottom line is some do and some don't. I recently did power windows in 2 Dakotas and neither had a transponder key. With that info, i bet it's safe to say a basic no frills Dakota probably won't have it....

Quoted from Chris Luongo's post in that thread

"Just because it has the remote built into the key, doesn't mean it has an anti-theft transponder also........I have not seen a Dakota with a transponder yet.

Look carefully at the dashboard, at all the various warning lights......you will see one that is just a circle, a little smaller than a pencil eraser.

If that doesn't light up when you turn on the ignition, there is no transponder."
