Subject: pulse delay for remote starter

triggering a remote starter that has a single pulse input trigger, using only 1 relay to delay the tripple pulse of a factory keyless fob.  In other words I want my customer to have to press her unlock button on her factory keyless entry remote three times to trigger the remote starter.

Triple pulse input is needed because some vehicles(Fords) flash and beep to let the owner know they locked the doors and set the factory alarm after the second lock pulse. I use the third pulse to trigger the remote starter.

I've been using three relays to do this, I would like to get it down to one relay. looking for a ball park value for the R/C network.

capacitor=??

resisor=??

diagram would be great!

Thanks for any past experience/input.

Mark

Add Auto Unlock without an Alarm or Keyless Entry System
Like above, you can add auto unlock to any vehicle equipped with power locks. Just connect the output of this circuit to the vehicle's door lock circuit using the appropriate application. more info.

Here is a digram that you can try but I would never recommand the customer to use the factory keyless entry as a remote starter input.  On the other hand, the customer has to press the unlock button three times to activative the starter.  That's not a good idea because the vehicle is unlock, is it?  Even if you can build a circuit to over come the three relays.  The vehicle is still unlock.  Can you relock the vehicle by press lock on the OEM remote?  Most OEM remote control will not work when the vehicle is started.

Good luck...

Typo: It should be "lock"  not "unlock"

Ref:

"Triple pulse input is needed because some vehicles(Fords) flash and beep to let the owner know they LOCKED the doors and set the factory alarm after the second LOCK pulse. I use the third pulse to trigger the remote starter."

when the factory bof will work,I will try to get the customer to go for this method when they bring me remote starters they buy that I know have short ranges(bulldog). If I can't talk them in to bringing it back and upgrading  I give them this option- because I know they will not be happy with the range(next thing they do is blame the install not the unit they got from a discount store.) A Ford remote has better range then the consumer packaged bull dog unit). My last option is removing the ant. pin and inserting a shielded wire (17" striped at end) and run it into the headliner or whatever, anything is better then there factory setup.

IMHO: It's better to take a bit longer and do it rite then have bad feed-back from the customer. one bad opinion from a customer takes ten good ones to cancel that one bad out. then they tell two friends and they tell two friends...ect... that one extra relay or 1/2 hr keeps the ball rolling..

thank you for the info.

still open for other circuits/ideas that have been USED for this aplication.

Ok got it down to two relays still looking for a one relay method , this is the two relay method:

this hookup requires the user to press their unlock then there lock button within a short time to trigger the remote starter the cap on R1 acts as a pulse stretcher(varying the cap value will vary the latch time)

pin 85 R1  (-)pulse from "unlock" and one leg of 10kuf cap

pin 86 R1 (+)12v fused and the other leg of 10kuf cap

pin 87A R1 to pin 85 R2

pin 30 R1 (+) to 12v fused

pin 86 R2 (-) pulse from "lock" wire

pin 30 R2 to ground

pin 87A R2 to (-) trigger of remote start

the (-) pulse can be a (+) from a diffrent source just flip pin 86 R1 to ground and reverse the cap. taitor as needed

I'd personally rather just turn away the people who come in with Bulldogs and stuff like that.....if they're too cheap to have it done right, it's hard to make a decent profit anyway.

Audiovox makes a piece called the AS-9075, which works directly off the factory keyless; no relays or anything else needed for most cars.  The customer presses lock, unlock, and lock, and the car starts.
