Hey,
I was just wondering what kinds of problems you guys have been running into with the new DEI Viper 5900. I've had a few so far. For one, the setting to make the doors lock with the ignition and unlock when the car shuts off is still a little shaky. Also, I cant get the parking lights to stop flashing when the remote start is activated. There is an option to make the lights constant, but it doesn't seem to want to work.

So I was just wanting to know what other common problems you're having ans if you know of any solutions to my problems. Thanks!

I have the 5900 and am loving it. problems I had was it would start by itself like early in the morning but thats it, also I wanna make the siren and horn honk/chirp the same time but seems like you cant...

Yea I hated the flashing when remote start, I like the constant lights better. I dont know why yours isnt working, just re-do it and make sure you are in the right menu...

As for the door locks, hmmmmmm what do you mean by shaky?? mine works fine..

i have a 1995 audi 90 quattro which has a vacuum locking system. it seems like the settings where the car will lock itself when the key is in the ignition, and will unlock when the key is removed only works when it wants to. i have not noticed any pattern as of yet.

is there any way to reset all the settings to factory default? i tried unhooking the battery for a period of time, but it seems to hold the settings.

are you using a bitwriter to program it?   these are very user friendly units and i have installed many now with no issues at all.....

no, i'm not.  i'm not an installer.  i am just a consumer that has installed the unit in my own car.  i have some experience with these though, and the installation was fairly smooth.

from what i hear, you can hook these units up to a personal computer and the bitwriters.  how do I go about getting what I need to conect the unit to my laptop?  also, what software do i need and where can i get that?

there is no accessory wire listed in the wiring diagram for the 1995 audi 90 quattro.  does anyone know which on it is?

you cannot program them with a laptop, only a Bitwriter..... you are thinking about the Clifford G series units

try holding the program button on the back of the remote until the remote goes into program mode, then hit the orange remote start button until you hear only one beep, then let the remote time out and you'll hear two more beeps. try that and let me know

Bitwriters can be bought off ebay, or you can talk to a local DEI install shop and see if they can program it for ya. It might cost ya 20 bux or whatever but at least its done.

it could be the antenna. unhook the battery, and check the connections of the antenna. then reconnect the battery and see what happens

Does anyone have any experience with the Audi 90 series' factory anti-theft systems that would be willing to shoot some advice my way and answer a couple questions regarding keyless entry/remote start?

i have a 1995 audi 90 with a factory anti-theft system. i need to know how to use my DMM to test for the factory disarm wire. it's a - wire according to the DEI wiring diagram for my car.

also, for the Viper 5900, do I need a relay to set up the factory disarm, and if so how do I hook up the relay?

what kind of signal does the brain for the Viper 5900 output through the wire that is supposed to go to the factory disarm wire?

according to my wiring diagram, the factory disarm wire is "BROWN / Green (-). "  this i'm assuming means when it recieves a (-) pulse it's activated (or disarmed in this case), correct?  are there any special relays that need set up?
