I have the wiring daigram of the Volvo V70 1999-2002.  It has a warning that the "accessory" wire rest at ground from key switch.  The ground must be interrupted by a 5 terminal relay.  Does this mean I can't connect my accessory out pin to this wire directly?

That's exactly what it means. Usually the Ignition, Accesory & Starter wires rest at nuetral. On some Volvos the Accessory (when the key is mechanically off) shorts the accessory wire directly to ground. Now where most wires usually rest at nuetral connecting your major wires and injecting +12 volts during remote start won't hurt anything. But if the key isn't turned mechanically the Accesory wire is a dead short to ground. So naturally if you try to inject +12 volts into ground your going to have some real problems. The following diagram shows how you would use a relay to break that accesory wire only during remote start.

Accesory Isolation

This detaches the circuit from the grounded key cylinder and allows you to inject your +12 volts to the wire powering your accesories without any problems. Please note I had this circuit when I installed into a 2000 Volvo. I believe the 2001 is a normal curcuit and can just be powered directly. Please verify this before starting your install. Just test for ground continuity while the key is in the off position. Here is a better breakdown of the range of diagrams you're looking at.

I think you may luck out and not have to use this circuit on your 2001 install but as I said. PLEASE TEST

Thanks.  I'll ohm it out this weekend.  And thanks for the diagram.
