compustar remote antenna

I will be installing a compustar 2wss-a/s alarm I bought on ebay.  Iam sorry, but I will be aslking a lot questions, please bear with me and have some patients.

My first questions:  The illustration on the installation instructions from the compustar website shows the remote am antenna (the round shaped antenna) located on the lower driver side windshield, but the text says the best location is on the back side of the rear mirror. Does this mean rear view mirror?  Should I place the remote am antenna on the back side of the rear "view" mirror or where the illustration shows to place the antenna.

I know this is a stupid question, but I better ask than to guess wrong.

No, not a stupid question.

--Sticking the antenna on the lower part of the windshield will work, but range won't be as good, and it's ugly.

--Better to have it as high up as possible.

--Regardless of location, they always mean to say that it should be stuck to the windshield glass, NOT to the backside of the rearview mirror.

--I've only installed one Compustar so far; a long-range FM unit. They wanted the antenna placed horizontally, not vertical.

--Sticking it to the windshield glass behind the rearview mirror is a good idea, because you won't have to look at it when you're driving.

--Since your car is 20 years old and the headliner is probably fragile, it would also be acceptable to put the antenna at the top-left of the windshield. You'll have to look at the antenna every day, but at least you won't risk damaging the headliner when running the cable.

--I recommend that you leave the extra length from the cable tucked under the headliner or in the A-pillar......NOT bundled under the dash.........that way, if you decide to relocate the antenna, you won't have to take the whole car apart again.

Chris, thanks for your reply.  I just put in a new fiberglass board head liner and I dont have all the trim back in because i want to update my dome ligh with map lights. So running the cables is not a problem.

There are two antennas.  A round one and a one with a steel wire coiled in the middle.

The fm antenna goes in the top left corner of the windshield according to the instructions.  As you say , it's right in my line of sight. I can move it over behaind the rear view mirror also as you suggested.  But, what about the round remote am antenna. 

Can I place both antennas behind the mirror? Can they be that close together?

I have be calling the round antenna wrong.  Its a Remote Paging System.  That is the one I am concerned about.  Where does it go? There is also a label or sticker with it.  Does the sticker goes on the out side to hide the remote pager system antenna?

The rps goes in usually in the bottom corner of the windsheild driver's side the sticker goes on then the actual unit both on the inside of the glass. Not overly neccesary most people consider them to be a nusiance cause most people just knock on them to bother you

I put in a 2WSS-AS like that in an F150 at the top drivers side of the front windsheild. It's behind the factory smoked out area up top so you can't see it that well.  Works good like this.
