Hello,
I recently purchased a HYPERBRIGHT blue LED for replacing my dull red LED. I have followed back the wires and the black is connected to a ground on my cars chasis. The red goes elsewhere. What is the best way to replace this LED with the new one I bought? I will have to replace the BEZEL as well. Should I just cut and splice with some small wire connectors?
Thanks
it sound like the led you bought has 3 wires, black is ground, red is 12volt and yellow is ignition, forget about using the alarm led wires they are LOW voltage so it won't be enough to light the led light properly, i beleive the alpine 8040 (several years old) has a 2.5-3.0volt led.
so on your alarm there is a GROUND WHEN ARMED wire that you will hook the black up to on the new led light then connect the red and yellow to the 12 volt and ignition what will happen is when you arm the alarm the light will turn on and then when you disarm the alarm the light will shut off.
the other way to do it is to take your black and put it to ignition and your red to 12 volts what will happen there is when the key is turned on the light will go out and when the key is turned off it will come back on regardless of what the alarm is doing. i like the first way better because it shows the alarm is active rather than a "cheap" add on.
hope i could help
