installed an ultrastart 4266m on a 2005 dodge ram. i started the tach learn sequence then realized that the hood was open. when tried to to remote start the sytem it flashed the parking lights 7 times. the manual indicated that it is in tach lock-out. i tried to reset the sytem as described in the manual. turn the key on and off 3 times with the last ending on the the on position. pushed the program button on the antenna, but nothing happened. the parking lights did not flash. i have repeated this many times to try to reset the system and restart the tach learning, but have had no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

first things first. make sure your hood, and doors are shut. Start the vehicle with the key, and let it run. the leds on the antenna will light and the siren will chirp twice when tach learned. If all that fails double check your connections for ign. the blue wire from the ultrastart must be connected to the ign. wire (the one that stays energized in run and start positions.)If these wires arent connected properly you cant do a system reset. Let us know how it goes.

also tach lock out means that it hasn't been tach learned properly yet. My bet is that the blue wire on the six pin harness isn't connected right. given that you cant reset. Take your time and recheck all connections. Also that model is for a manual trans. only. If your vehicle is manual trans, make sure your parking brake, brake pedal and door triggers are wired right.
