Just got done installing my remote start  and bypass module

Everything installed per instruction specs.

Starter will not activate without key in ignition.  Fuel pump, etc all work fine.  A few times the truck started and stayed running with the key in the iginiton, but now the truck will start and then shut off after 2 seconds.  I'm assuming something isn't right with the bypass.  Any ideas?

Did you get the ground while running connected to the bypass?

Yes, ground when running from remote starter module is connected to the bypass.  Basically, when I hit the button on the remore, the remote start will attempt to start but starter doesn't engage, everything else seems to work (fuel pump, etc.)  If key is in ignition starter will engage.  Should I get a factory Ford bypass?

Look up the truck on bypasskit.com and buy the pats bypass.. XK04 should work. Thats your problem, if the rs will work with the key in the IGN then its the PATS system. what bypass do you have now?

Try taking the GWR wire and grounding it directly, see what happens. Also make sure you have 12 volts to the bypass from the ign. or the battery not from the accessory wire.

I tried repositioning the wire loop around the iginiton.  The remote start will now start my truck, but it will only stay running for 1-2 secs and then shuts off.  Do I just need to keep fooling with the bypass wire?

Hymer - I do like the XK04 since I don't need to store an extra key to use it.  Can anyone order though that site or do you have to be a "dealer"

Were did you get your tach lead, it sounds as if the remote start is not seeing that its running.

Anyone can order the XK04 from www.12voltshop.com, check for your tach signal or is it set for tachless?

Tach, yellow/white @ the coil OR Tan/Yell at PCM pin 48 or behind the cluster.

put the key in the ingition and i bet the truck stays running. i think it's ur bypass not ur tach wire personally...

It's set for tachless, tach wire is not hooked up.  How does the remote start work in tachless mode?  When I had the key in without the bypass wrapped around iginition it started and stayed running in tachless mode.  When bypass is wrapped around ignition, truck will start and shut off after 2 secs with or without key in ignition.

I'll guess I could hook the tach wire up and see if that's my problem.

When you have the key in the ignition is it forward to run or just off? if its off and the remote start works its your bypass causing your issue. If its on and the remote start works your not powering up an ignition that needs to be.

I would check to make sure yoou powered up all the ign. and acces. wires. You can get the tach at any injector also, just use the wire that is not common. I dont beleive the starter will engage at all if you do not have the bypass hooked up properly.

With key in ignition in the OFF position and bypass wrapped around key cylinder - truck starts and shuts off within 2-3 seconds.

When key was in ignition in the OFF position without the bypass wrapped around the key cylinder - the truck started and stayed running suing the remote starter.  Worked in bith tachless and tach mode

That is because the truck is seeing two transponders. It will not start with the key in the ign. and the ring wrapped around the ign cylinder. If the truck stays running with the key in the ign. and no ring around the cylinder then it is the bypass. Try moving the bypass around the cylinder to a different location. In my experience the ring has to be out toward the edge as far as it can be.

Once the truck starts is it still looking for the bypass?  Truck will start without key ignition, just doodies off within 2-3 secs,  I will try moving the ring toward the outer edge.
