Hi,
ive been doing some research about creating a circuit, i have had a few ideas from this web site and was seeking help as i cant get anything working.

I want to be able to trigger a boot solenoid from my factory Keyless Entry system.. at the moment, i have installed the solenoid, and it works fine when given 12v via a relay.

My question is:
how do i get the boot solenoid to trigger only when i have held the "open doors" buttn on my remote control for 2 seconds (or roughly that)..

i have found a connection inside my Factory keyless entry module that goes live (12v) when the "open doors" button is pressed...i now need to attach this to a new circuit to monitor if its Live for 2 seconds and then trigger the boot solenoid for roughly 1 second, or even less.

Ideas:
555 timer(s)
Transistor with Capacitor / Resitor

so in simple terms:
i need a 1 second 12v output, ONLY after being triggered by 2 seconds of 12v on the input side.... if the input is less then 2 seconds, the ouput stays low (0 volts)

Thanks alot..
Tony.

A new keyless module is less than $40 with an aux output to control that solenoid.

i could do that, but i dont want to.
they remote is integrated into the key itself, and is very thin as a whole unit..i want to keep it this way..

i just need a circuit to build. i am capable of wiring it all up, just need an idea or a circuit to go by.

i'd preffer to hold the open button for 2 seconds, and the boot opens
but if that CANNOT be done, ill settle for 2 pulses of the Open button.

If not pressed for long enough,it ignors the signal, and the doors open, and the boot stays shut.

if its not pressed for long enough,

If you know what you are doing then why are you asking?

i never said i know what im doing in terms of designing the circuit.. i just know how to build it, when the time comes..
