We're looking for some specific information about a 1996 Olds 88. Do we need to diode isolate the door triggers? If so could you please provide a diagram for how the diodes need to be installed?

Also some of these cars apparently came with VATS. What's the best way to test if the car we're working on has it or not? Thanks.

Look at your key.....does it have a little resitor just up the key BEFORE the handle? OR is it simply a stamped out "get it at the harware/autopart store" key?

If your key has this "resistor chip" you have the passkey vats.   As far as your door trigger....use the light under the dash, tag onto the white wire, it's a negative trigger!

As I recall, that white wire didn't need any diodes, correct?

Correct, the one light, detects BOTH (all) doors.

OK thank you very much for the information. I certainly hope that they have that light under their dash. It would solve a lot of problems.
