I have a customer who has a 2002 Audi TT 6 speed and she wants a 2 way, but the ones I get are not for manual transmissions.  I am not very familiar with which brands make manual transmiision 2 ways, so I thought I would see what you guys like.

The "M" version of their systems are for manuals.

there are many options u have for that customer     Compustar  has a manuel unit   it moniors door  and e-brake, Astrostart  has a unit  that  monitors the shirter position with IR sensors, this uit has along install time    depending on vehicle 3-4 hrs, also  all DEI products have a nuetral safty wire in them, check with Audi  i believe this car has a nuetral switch on the transmision i have  used all these pieces  with  goor sucess   the Astro is  time comsuming to get adusted  but  it is  safest of all as in mointors  the shifter position so if  car is running and u move shifter it will shut down

I did not think that Astrostar had a model for manual transmission.  What model # are you referring to.  I also am not familiar with a manual transmission having a factory neutral safety switch, just a clutch safety switch.  I have heard that Compustar sucks, but that is just from a few people on this site.  I think I will look into the untrastart model further since there is a dealer close that could sell me one, but I am not sure I liked the 2 way transmitter. I guess the body of it was OK, but that flip up cover is soooo cheap, I mean you sit on that thing funny when it is in your pocket and I bet it breaks.  Jeff has one on his website for almost $400 Canadian Collars which is pretty spendy, but still an option.   Thanks guys, any more you know of that are out there, or anymore information about this vehicle is appreciated.  I do have the wire diagram though.

Astrostart no longer makes a manual model.  They are supposed to be developing one.  There old unit worked really good although like you said, long install time.  It was deginately the safest though.  There are a lot of ways these other ones can be defeated.  If you leave a window open and someone reaches in and puts it in gear it will start in gear.  I never really cared for the exit procedure either.  Hopefully astrostart comes through for us once again.

If this customer can afford a 2002 TT I think she can afford a system that will cost her $ 800.00 that will protect it as well as start it posted_image. My 2c's

You are entirely right Jeff. So I am interested in hearing you brag about this system. I am pretty sure you could convinve me to buy one too if you can convince me that I will be getting what I pay for. What other bells adn whistles does it have? Do you have an electronic copy of the install manual?

Thanks

I have heard of many people having a negative view of the compustar piece I have a few dealers in my area that dont care for them. But i find that all those dealers have troble installing them. I have been a Compustar dealer for 5 years and i can say   there products may be a little more to install and teach a customer but once there in THEY work i have only replcaed 2 units in 5 yrs   a freind of mine is a Ultrastart dealers and he says there product is avg qaulity . AS for a neutral safety in manuals some cars do have i know a few ford and mazda's that due have them

wjg1, care to list what some of those cars are and where you find the wires? I know my WRX has a "Neutral Position Sensor" wire that I tied into my remote starter, but I found that out by reading an ECU wiring schemtaic of my car online.

JWorm, what was the purpose of the sensor? I am just curious if more vehicles have one but it is just not public kmowledege like you mentioned. Also what year WRX is that?

I'm just send the second one now. If it doesn't get to you within 5 minutes, then the file is too large & I will have to place it on my website for you to download to your computer. Let me know if it comes by or not.

jrilla, I don't know what my car usesthe "Neutral Position Sensor" for, but its at the ECU (under carpet under where front passenger's feet would be) for some reason. The wire shows ground when in gear and +12v when in neutral. Hooking it up to the hood pin wire on a remote starter would prevent it from starting in gear. I have an alarm/remote starter so I have it hooked up a little different. Its an 02 WRX. I'm not sure if all manual Subaru's have that wire. Someday I'll check a customers car out while I have one in the bay.

That is really slick I wish all manuals had one.

Thanks Jeff, I got the users manual and what looked like an advertisement, did you say you had an install manual?
