I have a 2005 Nissan crewcab. I am installing a Hornet 564T. I understand that the the truck is equipped with factory window control with extended triggers on the lock wires. Why dont the windows move when you hold down the lock/unlock from the door? Why can you only control windows down from the factory remote but control both from the key cylinder? Most importantly, how do I get a "extended trigger" with the 564T? I want the windows to go up with arm and down seperately with a Aux channel. Somebody please help me out. ------------- Im moving to MEXICO and Im not speaking spanish!

By holding down the lock or unlock it will not extend the trigger. By pressing this button it will pulse it once and once only. If you'd like you can tie in an extra channel on that lock wire and after you lock you can hold down that "channel" and it will do it. Same goes for the unlock wire. Note, I have confirmed it with Acura, Honda, BWM: if the car is running then those channels will not control the windows. Make sure that when you do tie in that channel you set to "validity"(by default it is set on this). BTW, in order for the windows to go up you must have the door locked and hold the extra channel and vise versa with the unlock windows down. Only vipers, pythons, and other higher end DEI products have something called "comfort closure" this will pulse the lock wire when you lock the car and then give it an extended pulse. Sadly, yours doesnt but the way I explained earlier will do the trick.

That sounds good on the lock part. I might even upgrade to a viper or the python. But now I will have a concern with the window down function. Sounds like if I dont "hold" down the aux channel then the doors will unlock without disarming thus triggering the alarm. I dont want to "accidently" tap the button and have this happen. I read about an "extended pulse relay" will this be a remedy for this issue?

I just looked at the Viper 5900 and its only a few bucks more. I think Im going to go that route. Sounds liket the comfort closure will solve the windows up problem. Still noword on the "up" issue, please advise!

OK, When you do get the 5900 make sure you turn on comfort closure on the settings. As for the windows down part you have to have the doors unlocked for it to work regardless. The system will go off if by unlocking the doors it may turn on the interior lights. To test it just arm the system and unlock the door with they in the door cylinder. Dont open the door and see if it goes off. If you really want full control then get a 530T.

The windows don't move when you hold down the lock/unlock button from the door because the windows arn't controlled by the actual lock/unlock switch, they are controlled by the door cylinder switch. Both switches tie in to the power window control module in the door and then their status is sent to the BCM over a serial link. The BCM ultimately decides when to lock/unlock the doors and can control the windows. The remote keyless system operates through the BCM. The BCM uses that same serial link (not CAN bus) with the power window module to send a signal to the power window module to lower the windows. The reason you can't raise the windows from the OEM remote is strictly a liability issue. When the BCM detects that the 'unlock' button is being held down it sends a signal to the power window controller to lower the windows. ------------- Kevin Pierson

According to DEI, The Hornet 564T is equipped with "comfort closure". I looked through the install manual at DirecttTechs and the owners manual and I dont see any programming feature on this. Does anybody know if this model does infact have this feature or is it a misprint on DEIs part? ------------- Im moving to MEXICO and Im not speaking spanish!

I've installed the 564t's and i havent seen that feature. Unless the new shipment has then all I would recommend is reading the manual that comes with the 564t. As far as I know the answer is no.

I just confirmed with DEI that the 564T manufactured beginning this year DO have comfort closure. Look at the sticker on the brain and anything with a OK 07 is equipped with this. I dont really see a difference between the 5900 and the 564t besides the range. Does anybody want to elaborate on why Hornet is classified as low end unit?

It is not low end just that the other models are territory protected. Basically your 564t is an 1000ft AM reception at optimal conditions. The rest is the same and when I say same I mean same exact plugs(except for antennas). Another way I can also check for comfort closure is by connecting my bitwriter and looking for the setting on the screen. If it has the feature it will come up. Like I said earlier, I didn't see it but then again I didn't check the date of when the models were made.
