My guys did a radio, 4 channel amp and a powered sub in this customer's  vehicle yesterday, and today he came in with the factory keyless entry not working. It worked yesterday, prior to the installation. We checked all of the fuses, all of which were fine. We connected the factory head unit back up, and nothing. From what I can see, the only wires that were cut on the system were at the factory amp and were for speaker wires.

Does any part of the security/keyless run through the radio on this car?

4 Things to consider:-  1) Battery on remote control OR it needs relearning to car. 2) 2nd fusebox under rear seats l/hside, check fuses and make sure BCM underneath isn't disturbed. 3) reconnect power supply plug to factory amp, there might be a ground loop alarm conection on it. 4) Wild card not seen on BMW's place a diode 1n5400 series in acc lead (purple or PURPLE / colour) to radio, band toward radio. In some Euro cars adding a head unit (I know but the new amps might give the same result) or phone kit puts a capactive feed back across the acc lead, this tells the locking system that the key is still in the ignition, but this is quite obscure, only seen before on Vauxhall (GM) and Skoda (VW) which use very similar BCM's to each other.

If vehicle locks properly with key in lock inc total (comfort) close, you are looking at the key.

What is the relearning process? we have checked all fuses, and we will make sure that the bcm is undisturbed. The factory amp power plug was left in, so I don't think that is the issue. I will give the wild card a shot. I told the guy that the remote may need to be relearned, but he does not have a manual for the car, and the bmw dealers are less than helpful with providing me info.

Thanks for the responses!
