Subject: remote start isn’t working with my alarm

I have a DEI remote starter system and a RF-520 alarm system. I would like to use my alarm system's remote instead of the orignal remote from my remote start system. So I hooked the "remote start input activation" wire to my channel 3 on my alarm system. I hooked the wire that suppose to receive a (+) or (-) source to ground and I programmed it for a 1 second pulse, but it still isn't working. Any ideas?

Would help if you mentioned what kind of DEI remote starter.

You need to program the DEI starter to be activated by a single pulse. If the Starter is relatively new, within 3-4 years old, they come default for a 2 pulse activation. In the install manual you will find a programming chart. There should be a feature to change the activation from 2 pulses to 1 pulse.

the remote start system is a 265b DEI. There isn't any programming with the remote starter system. The range on this sucks, so I was going to use my alarm remote. If the remote starter takes 2 pulses then I guess I'll reprogram my alarm's channel 3 for a single pulse and press the button two times instead of once right?

Yes.

In general I am a huge DEI fan, but not a fan of the BOA stuff at all.

If you tap that blue/white to ground does the remote start not activate? The BOA does not appear to have a programmable pulse selection for that wire so you may have to tap it to ground twice or three times before it kicks in. If you would test it and post back your results I would appreciate it.
