Hi i recently installed a remote star system in my 2002 chevy cavalier, the problem is the car starts for 5 sec. then turns off it then starts again and turns off. what could be the problem?? Im thinking its somthing to do with the tach wire, i connected it to the PURPLE / white wire comming out of the PCM. Anyone know how to correct this?

Thanks

I have no info on this. Im afraid i can't help you. Don't you have an install manual ? it should show u how to do that.

Radiostar have problems with remote starting, expecially in the cold.  Sold through surplus store I believe.

Sit in the car and try to remote start.  Watch the car security light, if stays on or flashes tou bypass is not working.

the secuirity is bypassed successfully and the car starts but for some reason shuts down and restarts again. I think the starter does not know the car is started and think its a failed attempt so retries.

Try temporarily reprogramming your unit for voltage sense mode.

If it works in voltage sense, then you have the wrong tach wire, or the tach rate wasn't programmed right.

The unit may work perfectly forever in voltage sense, or it's possible that when it gets really cold out, it won't work very well...........you could always just leave it on voltage sense for a while, and see how it goes.

On the other hand, if you have the same problem even when using voltage sense, it must be something else.

Voltage sensing, typically, does not require a wire connection. The unit will know the vehicle has started by sensing changes in the battery voltage. The only condition being of course, is that your particular unit is capable of the Voltage Sensing feature.

PURPLE / White from the PCM is the correct wire, so if your unit successfully has learnt Tach, then I second what Ispker wrote. Sit in the vehicle and take note of whether or not the security light comes on. Passlock II is a fuel shutoff Anti-Theft system, the vehicle will still start, but will die shortly after, due to the fuel cut off.

For the 3rd time, the security is succesfuly bypassed, the light does not come on the car starts and sounds like it is running well until the remote starter turns the car off and then tries again, it does this 3 times then stops.

I might be able to help you. I have a 02 cavalier. I instead have the 556L which is an updated version. First connect your tack wire to the white wire running off your ignition module. where do you have your other remote start wires conneccted?
