I installed a APS 997 pager/remote start on a 2006 altima. The alarm/pager and remote start worked fine. A few days later the main 80amp ECN fuse blew. This happened while the car was parked. Customer did not even try to remote start or nothing. The part that puzzled me was that door lock still worked with the pager. This happened a few times with the vehicle (almost every other week). I removed the system for a few months just to see if it would happen again - and of course with my luck it didn't happen again. Has anyone heard or experience this problem before? Any suggestions would help. Thank you in advance.

80amps......man! When you removed the unit......anything look suspect?

For that GIANT fuse to "pop" on it's own, there must have been a slight tell tale sign of something wrong!

Have you seen the car again yet?

like kartuneman said...WHOA, 80 amps is alot, an alarm is only 20 amps or sumthing max. there could have been a short while u were stripping wires. as u mentioned before, if its the main fuse, how did it pop and ur keyless is still working? does the car have dual fuses? im sure there is one at the battery, and one inside the fuse box in engine bay. check to see what is the recomended fuse. the customer might have changed the fuse if it did pop before to somthing lower.
