having trouble programming the tach on my car. i have gone through both procedures (auto program and multitach) and still the car will not start by remote.

i know that i have the right tach wire becasue i had another R/S on the car previously that was able to program to the tach.

the car is a 95 escort 1.9L

So when you attempt to remote start the vehicle, does anything happen? Does the ignition come on? Is there a series of parking light flashes?    What wire did you connect to for tach programming? And lastly, when you go to learn tach, does the unit confirm that your tach was successfully learnt? It should flash the parking lights 3 times shortly after pressing the brake.

hi

i did  install  more then 500 care  with  this  starter  and  i think  for  me  is the  best  one  with  the programing  just  in 30  secand to program  the  remote  and  the tach just  do  this ground  the  hood pin  and push the programing button in the sid  of the brain  push it  and release it  2 times then hold the  brake until you hear 5 clik or 5 flash  for  parking  light   yyou  do  this  while you  holding  both  lock  unlock  buttons  at  the  same  time  then  after  release  the  brake  and start  the car  with  the  key   then  push  the  brake  again  until  you  hear  5 click  and  5 flashng light  shut  of  the  car  and  close  the  hood then you done

Have you tried to re-learn the tach signal? The problem you are having is indicative of a poor tach signal, and as a result the starter is over cranking. Try re-learning the tach and if it still does overcranks, I would suggest you change the location of the signal.

Possible suggestion for a new signal would be the off-color at the fuel injector. You will find that at the injector there will be 2 wires feeding into each one, typically a Red and then something else. If you take your tach signal from the color that is NOT common, you should be ok.

Thank you for all the replies!!!!

dmielken had it right.

My old R/S wasnt as sensitive as the new one. i read through some forms on another site and found that my tach wire was not the one i was on, although it would have worked but its too weak.

So i tried this other wire (in my case yellow/blue) and the first time i went into the learning it work.

I absolutly am very pleased with my new starter.

Thanks again for all the help, and this site helped my bigtime also.
