reformat ps2 disc possible?

So after a few we decide to throw in the ol' Guitar Hero 3 and see how good we are (not very, as it turns out) and accidentally stick it in a PS3 instead of the 2. Now when I try to put it in the PS2 it says "please insert a playstation or ps2 format disc" and no go from there. Anyone here know how to fix it or am I screwed?

being that those 2 consoles only read data from the disc, not write to it the console didn't "reformat" your disc. sounds like the disc is just damaged

did you use the disc as a coster after a "few"?

Not all ps2 games are compatible with ps3. Infact some ps3 won't play ps2 games. Depends on which version you have.
