What would be the best way to wire headlights to flash when I press the horn button.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

check if your horn output is driven by a relay. headlights are always driven by a relay. You could connect the trigger for the relay for the horn to the trigger for the relay that controls the headlights. This way each time you press the horn, the head lights would come on too. However when you turn on the lights the horn would blow too. To not let this happen, you can put a diode to let the voltage from the horn go to the headlights relay, which will prevent the voltage goign the other way. If you want a drawing, I will make one up and put it up.

if you headlights are negative triggers, then just jump the sure and diode isolate it, if not then you hve to sire upa relay.

Thanks for the info I will wait until its a little warmer outside I'm in no hurry for this option. I was just thinking that if someone was coming head on at me and I blow the horn the lights would also get their attention. Also if someone is driving too slow in front of me(looking for yard sales) I can blow the horn and they would know its the car directly behind them because of the lights flashing. Sometimes you hear a horn and you don't know which car it is. It was just an idea.

I found this item online which could possibly be used. The only thing is would it be legal if you look like a police car.

Falcon1,

I thought you wanted to have the headlights come on as you are pressing the horn, so the horn and headlights would blink as per your switching them by your pressing on the horn switch. Now if you are trying to put these wigwag flashers, then yes you would look like a police car and could get into some trouble you would rather not be in.   I've personally seen only one person do that, and I thought it was a cop-car. The way it flashed (just regular bulbs doing wigwig wagwag), and the way the siren sounded (out of pitch but 60 percent similar pitch to copcars and quite soft) and the way they looked like(kids), they were definitely not cops. I would believe that someday they are gooing to be in seriuos trouble if they continue using that trick. Just a precausionary note. Impersonating a cop is not the smallest offense/crime, I believe.

I definately  want to keep it legal but I also would want it to be noticeable. Maybe someone here is familiar with the laws on this so I am just looking for some input or information.posted_image
