I was just wondering about the loan process they go through with Sallie Mae. I was told it'd be like 5-15% variable, which my mom has like freaked about because she has heard a lot of people getting screwed by this. I was wondering, anyone with experience through this process if they could say what's up. Thanks for any help. Sorry if this is a tad off, but well, my family isn't really willing to help me for some stupid ass reason.

I am currently going through the process myself and the told me that sallie mae thinks of everthing. the loan would be the school and tesh a tools and for the hotel room and plus you get extra money to play with. just in case youu have to take care of some extra things while you are gone. i was really surprized of how much help there giving me. they also give you a ride to school if you need. all i can tell is to call them and ask a bunch of questions they are really nice and informative! i took mobile dynamics in june of 2004 and i'm paying the loan through the school over 3 years. i pay 220 cdn a month because they do have high interest rates, however, if you graduate and get a job that's solid you can apply for a loan through your local bank  (with much less interest) and pay it off completly with out any probs. i'm not sure if they went through sallie mae or if it's just through the school it'self, but you can tell your mother i havn't been screwed and the admin ppl at the school are willing to go that extra mile to make ya happy. they helped me out for almost 6 months befor i was able to go. and yes i'm glad i went....i just regret comming back to my home town..
