cruise controlls are desinged not to work till you get to about 30mph. so if you cant engage it at idle its normal

Not trying to engage cruise control, just trying to make sure all vacuum lines are hooked up correctly.Had head gaskets changed and put new spark plugs and wires changed, now my car runs very rough and  motor dies when i don't give it gas and dies when i put it into gear(idles rough ).so why i need info on a vacuum system for my car ,more info above. In short my car doesnt move.Ann

I'm not a mechanic, but maybe you should bring it to the shop for a professional diagnostics of the problem. It can be anything from a bad plug wire to a bad fuel injector or water in the gas lines.

check your spark plugs gapping, gap it to manufacturers specs. and also check for arcing of ur spark plug wires. To do dat, get a spray bottle and fill it wif WATER, start car and have sumone keep it running while u spray water on the cables, if the cables are arcing or shorting, u will see a brief spark jumping out. Most likely its ur spark plugs not gapped correctly.
