I'm working on a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup equipped with an Avital 4103 remote start. There is auxiliary lighting installed inside the bed of the truck. I am trying to get the "trunk pop" button on the remote fob to activate these lights, and I'd like the lights to automatically shut off after 30 seconds or so, like the cabin lights on many vehicles.

So I know the trunk pop is a single momentary pulse, and I saw this diagram: https://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp#lsp
but I was wondering if there is some kind of relay that will activate the lights from the momentary pulse, and then turn them off automatically after a delay? I DID search this forum, but I might have missed something, so I apologize if this has already been discussed. Thanks!

That's fine but a 528t costs me about £7, =$11!

There will be other channels tht can be programmed to latch on for 30 seconds of output and can be programmed on the trunk pop button! Sure to save you alot of time! You would only need the relay!

That's probably the way to go for most people, but if you don't buy parts from RS, building the circuit would probably only be about 50 cents over the cost of a $3 relay. If cost is a factor anyway.posted_image

Wondering about where pros buy in the US 'cause RS quotes at least double for relays, and about 10 times what I pay for diodes!

Don't worry Darren, you win the prize for the logical correct answer, but do you ever think that you're wizing in the wind?
