I need to install a 12v outlet under the dash to plug a dash cam into. I need the power to come on with the ignition. I was planning on splicing into the ignition wire or possibly finding the cigarette lighter wire and splicing into that. Do I need to add a relay or can I power the dash cam directly off of the ignition wire?

I want to install a small camera on my handle bars. I need to install a 12v outlet. The outlet needs to cut on and off with the key. Can I just power directly off of the ignition wire or should I add a relay?

You will not need a relay.

How much current does your camera need?

You won't need a relay, we normally hardwire them to an ignition or ACC wire, draw about 3-5 amps.
------------- Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.
