500ma negative output will not trigger relay

Hello,

I am doing an install of a Viper 5305V into a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Originally I had both unlock and lock (500ma negative pulse) outputs hooked up but neither would trigger the door locks (Type B). I figured I would need to give the wires a stronger ground, so I bought some relays and hooked them up following this diagram:

Problem is, the outputs from the alarm do not trigger the relays. I measured the output of them using a multi-meter and they are outputting less than 200ma each.

My ground and 12v constant connections are strong. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?

200 mA is more than enough to trigger a relay, but relays should not be needed if you have the right wires.

Have you verified you have the right wires using your meter?

Yes, I have verified I have the correct wires. When I ground the lock wire, the doors lock and when I ground the unlock wire the doors unlock. They both read 12V and dip to ~2v when I use the door switch to unlock/lock the car. I am starting to think I have a faulty brain module in my alarm.

I would check the ground of the main system. Since they are actually pusling with an output at all I would assume they are good. Generally with RS systems it either works or it doesn't. There is generally no it kind of works. That has been my experience any way.

Checked my ground and power, they were both good. Ended up using the Alarm Disarm and Arm (Both 200ma negative pulse) outputs. This worked without needing the relays. Since my vehicle did not come with a factory alarm, this was not a big deal.
