I have an electric fan on my radiator that is switched by a relay. Today I melted a 30 amp fuse and the wire leading from the relay to the starter. I am a complete dummy when it come to the electrical and relays. The relay I am using is a 5 post relay with 86 going to the fuse panel. Post 85 goes to the starter with a 30 amp fuse in line, post 87a goes forward to the fan (I think) along with the post marked 30. I think the post marked 87 goes to ground I AM NOT sure. If someone has a diagram where all this goes I would appreciate it. If I wanted a manual switch where would it go along with an indicator light telling me the fan is on.

Connect as follows to have the fan come on when the ignition is on or when your switch is on:

85 to ignition 12V+ or switch
86 to ground
87 to fused 12V+
30 to fan positive
87a not connected to anything
Fan negative to ground
