Just did an alarm install in a 1989 Mustang GT. I found what I thought to be the doorpin trigger - showed switching correctly. I connected the POS door input on the alarm and in testing found it wasn't seeing the doorpins. I temporarily wired a relay in against the pinswitch to change the polarity and sent the signal to the NEG door input, and it worked perfect. I tried backfeeding +12V on the line to turn the domelamp on, and it didn't work either - I suspect somethings up there.....
I noticed after the door of the car being open about 3 hours in the shop (and the relay being open the whole time) it was getting warm. It wasn't /hot/ by any means, but it was warm. I've never noticed a relay to do this before. Obviously the door won't regularly be open this long, and likely won't be an issue....any thoughts on the relay warming up?

Relays will get warm with use, this is normal. However the door trigger should have been positive BLACK/ lt.blue.

I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.
Great - yes, I found the BLACK/ lt. blue in a grey plug in the kickpanel. It rested at ground, and triggered to +12V when either door opened. HOWEVER - when backfeeding +12V to the lead (for domelight supervision), nothing happened. For some reason the alarm didn't see this trigger - so I had to use a relay to reverse polarity and run it on the negative trigger, which worked perfect.
Thanks!
