I have this knight rider light type thing for my middle aka 3rd brake light on my car. Everytime I step on the brakes, the LEDs go back and forth, but ONLY when I step on the brakes.

What I want to do is have it go back and forth when my car is off. Is that possible? And also is there a bad side to it, like any possibilities of a negative effect happening?

Bad side, it will kill your battery if the vehicle sits for an extended period of time.

To do it you will need to wire a relay, pin 85 constant +12V, 86 ign, 30 constant +12V, 87 output to light. Then you will need to place a six amp diode to block power from feeding back through to the rest of the brake lights. Or you could wire it like this, 85 +12V, 86 Ign, 30 light side of brake wire, 87A car side of brake wire, 87 +12V. Take your pick. You could also wire a toggle switch inline with either the ign input or 12V(pin 86) to disable the feature.

Don't forget appropriate fuses.

Your the f'in man! Would a 5amp fuse suffice? Or a 10?

Also, for the 2nd method, do I still need to use a diode anywhere? When you say 6amp diode... Lets say I dont have any, but I do have six 1 amp diodes. Can I just line them up and wire it like that?
