How would I wire a relay where the trigger wire is -200ma and the wire I am trying to energize is a postive 12volt?

All you need to do is hook your trigger wire to pin 86 on the relay. Run a 12 volt constant wire to pin87 and then from that pin to pin 85 on the coil. Then run a wire from pin 30 to the 12 volt wire you are trying to energize. Good luck. Brian

I'm sorry I am a little new to this relay thing so bare with me. What do you mean coil? Do I need to purchase this coil?

Also one more question. Could it be possiable that when this relay is not being triggered that if pin30 get a 12volt signal from a different source that it could travel through the relay back to the signal wire on pin 86?

No that is not possible. Pin #30 is what you call a common pin. When the relay is not hooked up to any wires it is in a "normal"position. Between the pin 87 and 30 is the Normally open contact and between pin87a and 30 is the normally closed contact. In the off or normal positions pin 30 is only attached to pin 87a.Thus where they say normally closed contact. Between pin 30 and 87 is a open contact,in the normal sate. When you put 12 volts on the relays coil(pins 86 and 85) You energize the relay and the coil creates a magnetic switch that makes the normal contacts switch to the exact oppisite. N.C goes to normally open and N.O goes to normally closed. When the coil is turned off thr contacts go back to their normal state again. I hope this helps you understand a relay better. Brian
