I have no idea how hard this would be. You know how Facebook has (X) on the tab? Can we get that to happen if somebody posts on a thread you have commented on?

That's part of your Profile - ie, "Notify me of replies to posts".
Or it can be set/unset individually for each replied thread - ie "Watch this topic for replies" at the bottom of the page.
