Why is it so hard to find wiring diagrams for gm delco bose systems? I have been looking all over the internet for a month and all I can find is your standard wiring for gm cars, yellow is power orange is memory and so on, why can't I find any diagrams for the amp wiring, my bose amp has an eight pin plug and a 24 pin and I have no idea how to hook it up, does anyone? I have a 1994 Lumina Euro that came with a standard am/fm cassette. A bose system was a option and I bought one on ebay. It is a bose silver series head unit a u85 bose amp and bose speakers, however I did not get the wiring harness with it. Can anyone help me out?

With everything I paid around $250.00. I would still like to find out how to wire it.

If you are willing to do a little footwork with a meter, I can at least help you identify the speaker outputs and power and ground wires.

I don't know which wires are the input to the amp from the head unit. Power to the amp is easy, it's a big fat orange wire and a black wire. The inputs and outputs are the same size. I can't believe that there is not a schematic out there somewhere.

Ok i'll see if there is anything i can find for you...How old is the stuff your putting in...from 1994 too (what year-make- and model the bose equipment is out of) ...? That was kinda why i said nobody does that...Probably could of found some aftermarket used equipment around same money...Is it for keeping it "factory" the reason?

The head unit is out of a 1994 lumina. The amp has a date of 6/21/00. The numbers on the amp are 10440936  2W A00  U85  Amp Assy,3630G,WPONT if that will help. I am pretty sure it was a 6speaker system because I got all the speakers with it. one time I was on a Pontiac Forum site that had the diagram, But I cant find it. The Lumina is nice and I want to keep it original, and the factory radios work well. I can install a jack in it for ipod,mp3,ect. Thanks for the replies.

So does this mean we are not going to use the meter to find the speaker wires.  After we identify the speaker wires, the inputs will not be that hard to figure out.

I can do the meter test but I don't understand how we can identify the inputs to the amp. Thanks

Remove the cover of the amp.  Where the pins of the plug hit the circuit board, there are going to be 6 traces that go directly to the output devices.  There may be 3 or 6 devices.  Some of the traces may be on the underside of the board.  That is where the meter may come into play.  If you can not  see the traces of follow them to the output chips, set your meter to the diode test or continuity setting.  Whichever setting is quicker at making the meter beep is goung to be your best bet.  Touch and hold the leads together and notice how long you have to keep them together before you hear the beep.  Place one lead in an unidentified pin of the amp, now touch the other lead to the pins of each output device, you have to leave it on each pin long enough for it to start beeping.  There should be 2 wires that go to each output if there are 6 devices.  4 to each if there are 3 devices.  Once you find the 12 wires that go to the outputs, draw or take a pic of the plug and label the wires that go to the outputs.  I will instruct on how to find the inputs when I get home tonight.

Another bose page I found and I promise i wont put up another untill i get an answer on year, make, model.

How do I bypass the Bose amplifier?
Simply connect the wires before and after the amplifier using the following diagram (courtesy of Legend tuner). Crimp caps will work fine for making the connections, although soldering looks cleaner (I'll do that when I get around to it).

It is out of a 2000 Pontiac. I'm not sure if it was out of a Grand Am or a Grand Prix.

Hey guys, thanks for the help. I cant take the amp apart, I don't see how it comes apart. It has two boards that are attached to both the bottom and top so the cover won't just come off. There is one just like I have on eBay # 220403808469. That's what the hookup looks like. Anybody have a clue?

A T-15 Torx driver available at any auto parts store, only have to remove 2 screws. Then on the edge of the bottom cover there are 2 places that you can insert a screwdriver, gently pry the cover up a bit. There are ribbon cables that attach the bottom board to the top board, so do not just rip the cover off once you get it open a bit.

There are three output chips but there are no part numbers on them, so I can't look them up to see what leg does what. The 8 pin connector has the big orange wire and the big black wire which is power. It also has a yellow, a brown, green w/ black stripe, a dark blue w/ white stripe, light blue w/ black stripe, and a dark green. That plug is obviously for the power and controls. The other connector has 24 pins but only has 16 wires coming from it.

Six of the wires coming from the 24 pin connector, are 16 gauge which is probably the output wires to the speakers. The other ten are 18 gauge wires, probably input wires from the head unit . I don't know which wire is what. I know the standard output color for GM, but these wires aren't following that code.

In the first sentence, it should have read 12 traces.

When testing as per the Private Message, there will be 12 wires that read very close to the same.  These 12 wires are the speaker wires.  There should be 6 pins that read very near the same.  These will be the input wires.  There should be one pin that is unique in it's reading.  This is the Remote Turn on wire.
