I need to know where the amp is in the 2000 mustangs and if I have to use the amp by-pass kit. In the 98 and below I could just switch a couple of plugs behind the head unit and it was by-passed. I'm not sure if I can do the same on this, Thanks

if its like my 2003 GT there mounted in the trunk underneath the speakers if you lay in your trunk you should be able to see them when you look up

What are you trying to do? Install an aftermarket deck and use the factory amps? Install an aftermarket deck and bypass the factory amps? Add a subwoofer to a completely-stock system? Lemme know and I can tell you exactly what to do as I know this vehicle inside and out.

I was adding and after market deck and I wanted to bypass the amp. I found it in the dash below the cd player. The amp has a totally different type of harness on it for the signal output. I can't find it w/ Metra so I just cut the plug and wired to that. Any suggestions on a bass set-up, like the type of box and sub?

PLEASE tell me you kept the plugs, PLEASE! I'll pay you 15 bucks for those plugs. I did a 4-channel amp in one of these and the customer wanted to keep using his factory head unit, and long story short I cut those amp plugs and now I need to turn it back to the way it was, and so I need those plugs. Since they're part of the vehicle's wiring they don't sell them except as the full $300 vehicle harness for the whole car. And all I need is something to plug those factory amps back in! So if u have those plugs please lemme know. They actually do make amp bypass harnesses for this vehicle--too bad we don't stock them and so I had to improvise when I first did the install. All I needed was the FDK3 and it would have made my life so much easier. Anyways, for your situation, the Scosche's FDK1 is used to integrate an aftermarket deck with the factory amps; the FD15 is for bypassing the amplifier.

Is it a 2 row of either 8 or 10 pin plug? I had to utilize as much wire as I could from the plug so its cut flush. They didn't give me much wire to work with. I'll give you the plug, but unless you can replace the pins in it, you won't be able to use it. As for the input to the amp. The square plug from the H/U to the amp, I have that, I can remove it from the car if you want it. I also have the factory radio and the single disc add on cd player for sale (cheap) as in trade you for an amp wiring kit and dist. blocks or something.

The plugs are both female plugs, one of them is a 14-pin connector that would plug in to this, and the other one is a 8-pin connector that would plug in to this. Both of these plugs are the two that go in to the factory amplifier. Even if they are cut flush I can still use them, I can solder on to whatever wire is left, if necessary, or even put in my own pins. But I can't solder on to the amp's pins to make the connections, that's why I need some sort of plug that'll fit into the amp. I know I could get the male versions of each plug via two different amp bypass kits from metra, but it's the female plugs that I need. Thanks.
