I need the remote start/alarm wiring for the Audi A5 Coupe. Will be doing the Viper Smart Start for a customer but none of my databases list this vehicles wiring. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The fisrt thing you will need to make this happen is a CAN interface, either as one unit to control locks, door contacts, lights, the other half to control the factory transponder, EVERYTHINGs CAN data on that vehicle, finding individual wiring will be a nightmare, if it's anything like an A6/8, even the ignition switch leads are data.

i will check to see if he wiring is anything like the a6/a8 platform. as far as the door locks are concerned, i have a module that will take care of that...the one i am missing is tge immobilizer one since the car is equipped with a smart key. thanks for reply as any help is appreciated.

I did an A4 today (or tried) with the idatalink module, but I wasn't able to update the firmware on the module (need a usb firmware update device). This car was like he said ALL Data. I couldn't even find a parking light wire, and the "ignition" (slot where the key fob goes) acts like a pushbutton starter. The only help I got was calling the tech support guys at idatalink. There is no "accessory" in these cars and EVERYTHING was datalink via 2 brown wires @ the driver kick panel. To remove the key cylinder I had to have Snap-On bring me a 12-point torx looking bit (Highly specific fastener). I guess after I get the USB device I will try again to complete the install. It has you run 5-6 loops of wire around both the key fob (left in vehicle) and around the key cylinder (VERY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE AND WRAP WIRE AROUND). I'm just scared of the proximity functions after reading a few Audi forums it's supposed to allow you to open the door from the outside when the fob is in proximity. So if I leave the key in the car under the dash will it always be unlockable??? This car was pretty intense I must say. Even the parking brake is a pushbutton...

For those of us who are into trivial pursuit I think WE call that fastener a "Bristol Spline" invented by a British Aviation company that is now part of BAE, built the Concorde now make bits of Airbus. Those fasteners have been used on varous parts of VAG vehicles such as the door lock retaining bolts on Golf/jetta.
