I got a Parrot Bluetooth kit for the holidays and played it smart and got an install harness to help the install process. That was all great and easy, but the simplest thing is proving to be a challenge... and I though I would finish in an hour!

The harness needs a switched 12V source to turn on the kit and i thought it would be simple and quick. Needless to say, I wasted over five hours yesterday trying to find a switched 12V source. Looks like everything is bus controlled and all devices get 12V constant and the BCM turns everything on via the bus.

I searched multiple sites, and everything I found didn't work on my truck. Either the connectors were different or just not there. From what I've been able to gather, lots of installers like to pull from the pink ignition wire at the steering wheel. Othes say u need to run your own wire to the battery and relay it to give you switched 12v. And yet others say you gotta pull from the underhood fuse panel...

So, after my long rant, my quesion is: Where the heck can you find switched 12v on a 2007 Suburban 2500? Is it a myth? I'm thinking I'd have an easier time finding bigfoot! ;-)

Any pics or descriptions of the exact place/wire would be GREATLY appreciated! Also, if you gotta go underhood, which fuse? I tried one of them with one of the fuse taps...needless to say, I hadd buy some more 10A fuses today... Help!

The Pink/White wire at the ignition switch would be the easiest spot to access Ignition power. As long as it doesn"t pull more than about 5 amps.

is the '07 the 'new' body style?..or older 'classic'? on either you can find an ignition down in the junction panel. it's to the right of the parking brake near the firewall. on the older models, the upper left connector position (6 terminals) has ignition, accessory and battery, on the newer models, left column, 2nd from bottom? (8 terminals) has ignition, ground. if it is the newer body style, does it have a sunroof?...right side dash access panel, thin yellow (+ 12 volts accessory), not good for much current, but should operate the Parrot kit or a relay without a problem.

It's the new body style.

I do have a sunroof so I'll have to check and look for that yellow wire. Off of the harness I have, I'm not sure if the 12v switched lead powers anything or if it's just a turn-on lead. Am I better off just using the yellow wire to trigger a relay powered by the battery? I suppose I could just try it and see if it blows any fuses. :-)

As for the pink ignition wire, where's the best place to attach to it? I have a bundle of taped wires running down the left of the steering shaft and I'm kinda nervous about messing with them cuz of the airbag.

yes, you can use the yellow lead to trigger a relay
