Hi Everyone !!
I'm new at this , so be patient with me please ,, Sold my '02 Buick Rendezvous and I disconnected car starter system it had , It's an autostart # 1414 (Running Fine) with a transponder key bypass for GM's PKG5 . My 18 year old daughter recently bought a Ford Focus Ses '09 , and was wondering if I can salvage this car starter ?? I would need help with ; Autostart Wiring diagram for my Focus , and what type of bypass key transponder i need without loosing a key . Also if there is anything else i need for installation . I am a do it yourself type of guy , So Anybody's help would be Grately appreciated ,, Thanks in advance ...
Re-using the remote starter is possible if you have a nice supply of the correct gauge stranded wire available and can solder proficiantly. Sometimes the previous installer will cut unused wires short ( right at the connector ) making it nearly impossible to make a connection. It's usually the remotes that wear out. You will need the Autostarts' install guide...
The wiring guide is available at Bulldog Security : https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.asp Also at AudioVox : https://techservices.audiovox.com/Login.aspx Sign-up is free. This site lists the 2008 Focus, which is the same : https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~114523~get~last#554589 Expect to find thin gauge wires at the ignition switch.
You will need a bypass module. I would suggest the DEI 1100F module. It was actually made by iDatalink and works well. There might be some still available in the Buy and Sell Equipment forum for $15. To program any "no key required" bypass module to the car, you will still need two working, non-clone, keys. It's the same procedure as adding a new key.
If you can't salvage the Autostart or just want something new, a good quality remote starter with keyless entry and 2 remotes ( Ultra Start U1272 ) can be purchased online for about $50.

Soldering is fun!
