Howdy Y'all!
I have a 2006 Dodge Ram Mega Cab with the 5.7 liter Hemi. I am interested in putting a remote start alarm into it but With so many modules and bypass kits out there, I am not really sure which one will get the job done.
I would like a bypass kit that will not need a key and will also interface with the door locks. I have looked at the IOM Chrysler 7 and the CHDL7-PK2 (www.bypasskit.com/wizard.aspx). Best Buy was recommending the FLCAN 64 (www.flash-it.com), but the sales guy did not seem to really know what he was talking about...
I don't mind paying for the best product, I just want to make sure that what I get will work for my vehicle. I have 2 keys right now so programming should not be a problem. I have searched through this site, but only came accross the XK532, 556UW, and the 456LW. I may have miss any others.
I have the 791 Viper remote start, but am thinking about a newer one. (5900 maybe)

Hi Mike,
I use a lot of iDatalink products and never have an issue with them. The FLCAN 64 is an iDatalink ADS AL CA 64. Flashed with the correct CH5 firmware, it should do everything. I always go W2W but if the FLCAN 64 supports the DBI port properly, it will save you some wiring between it and the DEI R/S Alarm unit by going D2D.
If you get the FLCAN 64 make sure the correct firmware is flashed on the module, otherwise you will need the ADS USB programming cable ($50) to do it yourself.

I checked into the FLCAN 64 a bit more, I came up with the EVO-CHR on the flash-it.com site. Says it is comparable to a DEI product and has the T2 harness which it looks like I will need for the 2006 Ram. Have you heard of this module before? Have you used it?

The EVO-CHR is a Fortin product. While I have never used the EVO-CHR, I have heard many good things about it and use/like other Fortin products. Using that module with the optional THAR-CH2 cable will replace the 5 wire connections from the bypass to the car. Unlike the FLCAN, the EVO-CHR does require a MUX relay with some extra wiring that is not necessary with the FLCAN bypass.
However, the Fortin EVO-CHR is not D2D compatible with DEI DBI so it would be wired in W2W mode. A better choice if you wanted to go D2D would be the DEI CHALL bypass and their CHTH2 harness. It's the same thing but compatible with DEI's DBI D2D communication.
