Thanks for having a gander at my post. I've got a 92 318i sedan and I'm about to purchase a viper 5901, backup battery 520, zone alarm 508 and a starter kill 102. My wiring diagram does not call for a door lock relay, which i'm looking to verify. I'm not looking to hook-up the remote start portion of the viper, just security and door locks. If anyone had a wiring diagram i could compare mine to that would be great and any advice. My car was almost stolen and I'm looking to get fair warning if someone is messing with my better half this time.

Thanks

Is this an E30 "classic" or an E36?

Its an E36. I'm not 100% positive but I dont beleive I need a door lock relay. How about diodes?

Thanks

If it has factory alarm the connections are behind the glove box.
Neg switching and WHITE/ black to lock, blue/red to unlock.
If not, under dash driver's side, body control module, pins 4 lock, 17 unlock, pos.
Aren't the instructions here under vehicle wiring?
Or look up the archives, it's been posted many times.

Thanks a bunch! Yes I checked out the instructions here, just the 92 was the first year of that body style I believe and not everything was by the book once i got into it.

Thanks a million

Some other thoughts:-
Early 5901s listed the lock outputs as + & -.
If yours is one of those, then yes, use diodes, 1N4004, bands towards the 5901.
Here's a little trick that worked on the UK right hand drive versions.
You will need 4 more of those diodes or 6 if 4 door.
With the ignition on OR the driver's door open, test for which wire is the "up" at each switch.
If it goes to NEG rather than positive, or by grounding it with the ignition on you raise that window then this will work:-
Select an aux output, set it up as timed (10 secs. default) and if you want to close the windows automatically on arming, then to enable on arming.
Then feed to a relay, terminal 85 with a diode in line, band towards the alarm.
Constant 12v+ to 86
A good ground to 87
Output from 30, then dioded to each window switch "up" wire as previously tested AND the driver's door trigger which I remember (test) as a BROWN / red.
Program OFF the door open warning chirp on arming.
This will probably give you window close either on arming or enabling that aux separately. Worth a try, window closing for about $7!
In fact you may not even need the relay, depends on the current draw.
Sometimes don't need it on a coupé.
This is assuming the window switches are wired as the coupé, i.e. they trigger a remote relay/processor rather than send 12 volts directly to the windows.
Incidentally the remote start is the EASY part here

2 x power supplies, RED / green and RED / blue.
Ignition light green,
Starter BLACK / YELLOW or light GREEN/ black or BLACK/ blue, OK I can't remember, test!
ACC violet (purple) but wire it from the 5901 as second ignition.
All above at ignition loom.
Tach is a thin black wire going to the instrument panel.
Use a 556UW wired as "European" see instructions, no loop, if there's one available for that year get a grey "valet" key, programmed by the dealer and use that in the box.*
*Assuming that year had the EWSl or EWS ll OEM immobiliser in North America, I've done left hand drive versions of that vintage here (UK) and they didn't have it, although UK versions did.
