Hello All. I'm new to the forum, but have used the12volt many times. Thanks to all that provide information.

Here is my situation. I just finished a 67 Corvette restomod with a 4l60E automatic transmission. I would like to use 4 leds to indicate what gear the car is in, by using the ground inputs from the transmission controller. I can't use the mechanical type indicators, as the transmission is in "drive" while "paddle shifting" the solenoids.

There are two shift solenoids, controlled by a ground feed from the computer. I'll call them Solenoid A and B.

For first gear, solenoid A is grounded
For Second gear, Neither one is grounded
For Third gear, Solenoid B is grounded
For Forth gear, Both A and B are grounded.

My question is, can a circuit be designed to light each of 4 small leds to designate which gear I'm in, using the negative input/combinations above, and then reset each time the gear is changed? Any ideas, comments are welcome. I thought that I could do it with a few relays. Thanks.

Assuming you only want ONE LED lit at a time, probably the simplest is as per electronics-tutorials.ws's Binary Decoder ie, 2 inverters and 4 AND (or NAND) gates etc, or 74138, 74154, 74155 or similar decoder chip - eg, CD4028 (CMOS).
