I am trying to retrofit an after market stereo for a 1996 bmw 318i. The stereo model is c33. I have the correct stereo and correct wiring harness, but I have no sound out of the speakers. My next step is to by pass the amplifier. Can anyone tell me the location of that amplifier or maybe a better solution for getting the speakers to work?

I'm not sure if you figured this out yet, but you need to connect the radios amp turn wire(usually blue) to the white(only) on the BMW side connector.
