This vehicle has passlock II. There are many bypass modules for it. You can search here and find many recommendations. To me the easiest looks like a product called PLDATA. A search at google will find that for you. Cost is somewhere between $25-40. It can be done with two relays and some resistors but, you have to cut wiring. The PLDATA keeps you from doing that. Here are your wire colors. Good luck cuttdawg

thankis alot for all your help, one question? it says for the starter wire that it must be active in both start and run postion, if this wire is supplying is the starter wire how do u keep it energized in the run postion but not have the starter engauging???? thanks for the help!!!!!

The ignition wire must have power in run and start, not the starter wire.  If the starter wire had power in the run position, then the starter would not disengage once the motor was started.

Thats a good question. Perhaps they did mean ignition although the asterisks seem to be by the starter wire. Maybe its a typo.   Here is another diagram. If your completely unsure you may wanna call Chevy or the remote start manufacturer.

NOTES:

*1 - This wire will not test when using the headlight switch. This wire is triggered by the DRL system. To meter the wire, start the car with the parking brake set, when the brake is released this wire will go to ground.  The BCM (Body Control Module) is located to the right of the accelerator pedal below the radio. The plugs on the BCM face towards the driver side.

*2 - Use TAN for the driver door located in pin B4, use ORANGE wire for the passenger door located in pin B2. Use both wires and Diode isolate.

*3 - The PCM (Power Control Module) is located on the passenger fender. On the 2.2L the wire is in a Black 80 pin plug pin 10 and on the 4.3L the wire is in a RED 32 pin plug pin 20.

*4 - Also found in the BROWN plug at the BCM on vehicles with a factory alarm.

I just installed a remote start/alarm on my '03 S-10, and I'm doing another one this weekend. I used the diagram that boomer posted, and had no problem... everything worked first try. I would higly recomend the PLDATA bypass module. It may be a little more expensive than others, but it is more reliable, and much easier to install. You can get the PLDATA $25 shipped from M & S Enterprises.

If you need any help, drop me an e-mail.

As far as DEI techsoft, I found a login an password on here at one point in time, you may try saerching for it.

good luck!

I have installed a remote start on a 2001 S-10 and i do have a problem with it. when connecting the Tach wire the truck ends up with a Service engine soon  light on, and the acceleration is beyond slow. I know for a fact that i have the right wires, i verified it in the service manual. but if i cut the tach wire everything runs normal and the service engine soon light  clears after starting the vehilce 3 times or so. Does anyone else have this problem? oh one other thing, when the remote start is activated, i noticed that the tachometer needle doesnt move same with the gas needle and temp. voltage and oil pressure work as normal. maybe i'm just retarted, but i went over all the connections again and double checked them with my service manual.
