I have just done two 2001 Dodge Ram pickup's with 2 different Brand remote starts. The trucks both remote start with no problem, but an engine performance problem develops only when remote started. The trucks will hesitate, backfire and have no power. This occurs only after inserting the key and driving off. Has anyone experienced this problem. Am I missing another wire for ignition aside from the Dark Blue? I am using BLACK/ or for heater but there is no b+ on crank, so I dont think this affects it.??? anyone please
Russ

I had some what of a similar problem once, switching between the remote start and key operation. It turned out that I had a poor ground going to the bypass unit. I don't know if this will help you or not, but good luck.

Always remember to test wires with a Digital Multimeter!
I Tried the Black wire/white stripe which I never had to use before and as I suspected it's just an accessory wire, no difference. Bypass for what? No factory security on these two Ram's. And two bad grounds on two trucks doing exactly the same thing? I think I got something else going on here I have never seen before, Only when remote starting does the truck suffer engine performance problems....very weird..

I would check for another ignition wire up there. There may be a dark green with red wire and it usually is a smaller guage wire. I don't remeber have that wire in those but it is worth a shoot. I hope this helps good luck.
