Has anyone figured out how to disable the door chime on a 2003 Silverado?  I know if you replace the head unit it will go away.  Is there any other way to eliminate it?  Thanks for the help.

why would you want to eliminate the door chime? You could probably cut the data wire going into the radio, but then the radio might not work, you might have other data bus issues also if you did that.

The reason I want to eliminate the door chime is since I re-geared the rearend it sets off the SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM warning and dings.  There isn't a programmer that will get rid of this problem.  I have contacted Hypertech and Westers multiple times and have been told that they haven't figured out how to solve this problem.  I also installed a Superlift TruSpeed and that eliminated the ding and warning while I drive but now the warning is triggered every time I stop because of the orientation between the ABS ring and sensor in the front hubs. I have alot of money wrapped up in programmers and supposed fixes and nothing works.  I just want to eliminate the door chime all together.

Here's what I did to my 03' Silverado Crew Cab LS.

Under the Driver's seat, there's 4 wires, one is like a 20 gauge black / grey.  I would check but at the moment, it's raining & cold outside so it's what I think it was.  I took my kit and disconnected the pin from the housing, insulated it and folded it back for later re-insertation in case I sell my truck.  (Probably in 10 years or so, I love it too much!)

I did that because the chime was annoying and I have a habit of fastening my seatbelt after I start the car.

Hope it helps,

Sean

I'll try that ASAP and let you know.  If that works I'll be very thankful.  I also love the truck, but re-gearing it has been a nightmare.   Thanks for the help.

It didn't work,  that wire may send the signal that the seatbelt isn't latched but it doesn't eliminate the chime.  Thanks for the help.  Does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram?
