I have a 99 Dodge Dakota.  And sometimes when i turn on the parking/headlights, the 3rd brake light comes on and stays on.  The rear brake lights dont come on, just the running lights.  Only the 3rd brake light does it.  And then eventually it will go back out.  Another problem i noticed is that when i turn my lghts off when i get out, they stay on for a few seconds sometimes.  Then go out.  ANY IDEAS??

I know that the system uses a silicon transistor that is a logic gate of type for this light . It is an  [OR gate] transistor. This allows the Cyclops [third light ] to come on when you put on the brakes. Your taillights come on and with the 3rd light [brake] together. Now with a turn signal flashing either L or R the 3rd brake will continue to illuminate with the opposite light that remains on. I believe that that the [Gate] of this transistor is forward bias,{shorting internally} and causing this light to remain on or not come on {depending on the transistor's depletetion zone temperature} , and needs replaced. Now where is it located is an answer the dealer will need to help you with. This just my { ANY IDEAS ? Post Reply }  Hope this helps.
