I have a 2013 Silverado that I'm adding an aftermarket head unit and a factory tailgate handle camera to. There is a post on here that gives the wiring colors at the camera and states 12v, but other sites on the web say to use a 12v - 5v converter to step the voltage down. I cannot find anything definitive and am hoping somebody else has done it and can help. Does the camera require 5 volts or will it work at 12v?

Toyota cameras operate on 6 volts. GM products use 12 volt cameras.
