If you can afford it, I would suggest getting the DVD and in dash monitor all in one. This make installation a whole lot easier. Eclipse, Pioneer or Alpine would be very good brands to get. You may have to get separate units as most companies make DVD players as slave units not stand alone's.

Hey Ken, yes you can watch TV while driving ( not recommended ) but all these units have a safety feature where the units have to see the hand brake ( - ) and also regular brake ( + ) in a sequence before they will activate the video portion of the system. This is easily bypasssed with a single toggle switch that will duplicate the hand brake part of the procedure.

Some have the built in TV tuner but most you will have to buy as a separate optional piece. Kenwood has one and it's model number is KVT-M700 ( monitor ) and the DVD player is KNA-DV2100 . The DVD + Monitor is model KVT-911DVD and Kenwood has one now that also incorporates the GPS navigation along with the DVD model KNA-DV2100

Some on this forum trying to sell a Pioneer Indash player for $ 1000.00 . May want to look into this. Please note that you are on your own when you purchase items over the internet from people who sell privately. Sometimes it's better to pay a little extra and get a peice of mind knowing that the thousand dollar money order that you sent will result in product shipping to your door.

You need to purcahse a FM modulator so that the audio output of the PS2/DVD will play through the radio of the vehicle that you have. These are available on the internet for abuot $ 50.00

i bought  a 6-4 in-dash monitor / TV , but i can not set it up, because my car is Misibishi 98, and i saw inside only 3 wires, one red, one yellow, and one back for electric, but there are 5 wires back of the in-dash monitor, they are : red  : battery, yellow: ACC, White : brealk ( ground ) , gray : back + 12 V  ( ?  i couldn't understand about this wire ) an  black wire for grd, then how can i set them ? please help me,  ( do i need to buy a I/O box ? to do that ? )

  • red  : battery
  • yellow: ACC
  • White :
  • black ( ground )
  • gray : back + 12 V

White you did not put anything for so I can't help you there

Gray will be your reverse light input so that the system will deactivate when you reverse.

All other wires are self explanatory.

I use my Pioneer deck, and an adapter which allows me to plug into the back with an aditional set of RCA's this is a little cleaner than an FM modulator, and allows you to switch easily between this and other sources.

Is it better to connect a TV staight to the battery or run it to the Accesory wire? Will it get a higher current when it is connected directly to he battery? Will it damage my component?

I wouldnt recomend hooking any component to constant unless the manufacturer tells u so.  Unless u want the monitors to turn on while the car is parked , but in this case think about it every thing has to be on : the radio, amps, source, A/C-D/C converter, etc.  thats alot of stress for your battery ......     to make along story short run it to ACC either way it will recieve around 12volts when the car is running   Ok

rookie but not!!!!!
