I've searched the archives and found similar questions about this unit but not the exact question. I'm trying to connect it to an Eclipse monitor. Do I need a remote eye to operate the dvd player or will the player read the (Alpine) remote without the eye? Does it have a sensor on the front panel or something?

Thanks for your help.

Use a remote eye to play safe.

The DVD player has a remote eye built in for the Alpine remote control unit that it came with. The remote eye that plugs into the back of the unit is an extension that you can have mounted anywhere in the car so that the remote can operate in the trunk or in the rear seat.
