my ps2 started not playing DVD's about 2 weeks ago, and about a week ago it stopped playing ps2 games, then stopped playing audio cd's

it kept giving me DISC READ ERROR, and i was like, 'well **** i've gotta go out and buy another ps2', but me being as stubborn (and CHEAP) as I am, started searching the net for if anybody else was getting this error and what was the cause

after about 3 days searching i found this article on techtv about DRE's

https://www.techtv.com/xplay/features/story/0,24330,3516150,00.html

it works!

my ps2 is all better

Another thing you can try is to replace your aging laser lense. You can buy aftermarket ones for $ 30.00 and it does the same thing. Using alcohol sometimes leaves a film on the lense after cleaning as well.

If you can't fix it...you can send it back to Sony.

Doesn't matter. Just find the correct laser replacement and all will be fixed.
