I'm wanting to install a video system into a boat. Is it possible to use a larger screen such as a computer monitor screen for mobile video equipment? If not or if you know where I can find larger screens let me know brand names and sizes. I found one on the net which is 17" widescreen for mobile video. I'm just wanting to know all of my options.

Thank you for any and all help

Yeah it is possible I installed 2 14" flat panels in my excursion. Since there are no headrests I made fiberglass pods for them and covered them in vinyl to match the leather. It is easiest to buy monitors that use a 12vdc power brick then find a corresponding 12 regulator for the car. I found some laptop chargers to run mine a maximum of 3 amps. With the regulators you dont have to worry about start-up voltage drop. It is a good project because of the cost. $150 for each monitor after rebate $20 for regulators $40 for fiberglass pods. I had the 10 disc DVD and I used flat panel speakers in the carseats so I don't have to listen to Finding Nemo or Bob the Builder any more.

Dell has an awesome 20.1 inch flat panel that accepts vga, rca and svideo.  the model number is 2001FP, a little pricey but still way cheaper than anything you will find in a car audio shop.  Pictured below is a slighlty smaller Dell LCD running on vga.

i used someconverters that I found at Fry's they are used to play video games on VGA monitors they were about $50 each you only need 1 if you have one source. I put one per monitor so the kids could watch different movies. I have seen the adapters on ebay for about $40 with 4 different inputs and 1 output with audio amp for headphones. Let me know if you have any questions I have photos but I do not know how to post them.
