Hey there.

I have been thinking of installing my XBox in my car.  I have been doing a lot of research and I was thinking of taking the XBox apart and putting it into a custom console to hide in the car - no prob.  This brought up another idea though - since the car runs 12 -14V DC, and the XBox internally uses 12V and 5V DC, why not replace the XBox power supply with a DC-DC power supply instead of using an inverter?  It would save room and the hassle of the inverter.

Has anyone done this?

Where can I get such a power supply?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Did it with a few PS2 systems, but not an XBOX. Should be the same though. I know the GC is easier, the power inverter is external to the system. I just built a voltage regulator circuit on a PCB and took out the AC power converter from the system. Works great, just check the current draw and you may not be able to use an LDO V reg.

Good luck,
