I recently installed two headrest monitors in my 2006 F150. One of my headrests turn on in black and white. the other is fine. They are Valor monitors and the B&W one powers up with a color Valor logo but then goes to B&W when the video source is present. If I hit the menu I can scroll down to reset and it turns it back to color, but I have to do this everytime I turn on the truck??

I have tried switching the video cables and it is isolated to that monitor (it doesn't switch sides). I checked all of my ground wires as well.

Am I missing something, or do I have a faulty monitor?

Anyone have any experience with Valor monitors or this problem?

Thanks!

You may have a faulty monitor. Did you try disconnecting the good monitor and have it take a direct signal from the source unit ( no video splitter inline ) ?

No, I will try that.

I did switch the two video lines to the headrests and it didn't switch sides, so I was guessing it wasn't the video amp or the cables?

Even checked my ground and it is fine.

I think I will email Valor and see what their response is.

< language=>Concerning your BLACK/ white monitor issue it may be as simple as checking to see if the monitor is set for NTSC video input or PAL video input. I have had a pioneer headrest monitor be BLACK/ white and that's because the setting was on PAL. Make sure both your video source and Monitor are set to use the NTSC option, it should be in your settings menu.

I have heard this from a few people now. The Valor 700WR monitor says it switches automatically and there is no manual control on the on-screen display or remote. Does anyone know another way to manually control this?

Also, if it thinks it is receiving a PAL signal from an NTSC source would it also shut off automatically after a few minutes? It is doing that now too, at a perfect interval, so it isn't my power source.

I think it thinks it is not receieving a signal and shutting down automatically too??
